I initially contacted Andrew to replace some brickwork and pointing to the gable end of our property. I have to say he has been most communicative and informative right from the start with regard to what he was going to do and gave excellent advice as to what what other items needed attention.
Andrew has given us plenty of advice on what needed to be done regarding water ingress and he has installed cavity trays and replaced soffits and facias.
The work carried out is to a high standard and I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
Andy re-pointed our gable end on our Victorian semi. I chose to go with Andy after speaking to him on the phone. He gave up a lot of his time and shared his knowledge before I’d even met him. I could tell he had years of experience behind him and so I booked him in.
He didn’t take long to get the scaffolding up and start the job. He was able to give the old brickwork a good finish that suited the type of brick, and managed to do it in good time for a very reasonable price. Andy is a very nice chap to deal with. He always let me know what was going on and offered advice. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.
We used Andy in February 2017 to do some pointing and brick repair work. Andy originally gave us the quote in October 2016 and arranged to do the work early 2017. Andy was on time and kept us well informed as to when he would be arriving.
The job turned out to be quite messy as we found further things needed which previous builders had done incorrectly. Andy was very helpful and knowledgeable and he went that extra bit for us. He helped us with a chimney flu liner installation that we needed fitting for a woodburning stove. We had some large heavy old sandstone lintels to be removed also. The finished job looks lovely. Plus he fitted all new guttering too! Would recommend Andy. He is very friendly and a good all round chap…not many of them these days.
Andy was working on a house opposite mine and I was impressed with his work, so I asked him could he do a square metre of pointing for me, which he was happy to do. Not all workmen would have been happy to take on such a small job. He took a look at my house and recommended other areas that needed doing. As the job progressed I remembered that the lead flashing from house to the garage needed replacing. He did that job for me also.
I was impressed with the fact that he was not trying to get extra work but he was only making suggestions which I agreed needed doing.
I found him to very knowledgeable and did a good job for me at a fair price. I would certainly recommend him.
I used Andy to repoint the whole house. I had various quotes before giving Andy the work as his quote was the most competitive and included the cost of scaffolding whilst others were going to do it off ladders and were more expensive.
The job was completed over a period of six weeks. The timing was ok and to my expectation as with all builders 2-3 jobs were on the go at the same time. So it was 3-4 days on with the job and 3-4 days on with other work.
I was happy with the completed job along with one or two extra bits Andy did for me as he saw what needed doing. I have no hesitation in recommending Andy to anyone that wants a good job at a very reasonable price.

AJ Hall Brickwork have done a first class job of repointing the stonework on our large gable end. They did several other small repairs for us which they included in the price.
